2012 Texas State Steel Challenge Wrapup

Thank you very much for attending our first annual Texas State Steel Challenge.

There are people I need to thank for making this event possible.  He doesn’t like the title but the co-director of this match was Rick Lilly,  without Rick’s hard work there would not have been the prize table we had.  Every item on the table was donated because of his hard work.  The scoring was done by Kim Lilly, I teased her saying she had the cleanest green shirt of the day.  The reality is she had the most thankless job of all the workers so thank you Kim I owe you and Rick a Dragonfly burger.  To all the Range Officers, you guys rock.  I knew with the crew that graciously donated their time to this event that it would run smooth.  Mike Merkler, thanks for the R/O class you conducted maybe it should become an annual event to try to keep us sharp.  To the graphics guy, KB Bayer, he says he does it for fun.  The banners, stage signs, shirts, and plaques were all his handiwork, keep fiddling with it.  Thank you very much to the match sponsors, without your support this even could not have happened.  Access Ford stepped up to the plate and supported us big time.   I still wish we could have given away the F350 as a prize, I was told that was possible but the title transfer fee would have been around $70,000.  Wow.  Our bay sponsors Robert Harman, Joe Vollmer Air Conditioning, Paul York Bodyshop, CenturyLink Telecom, Lamar Plumbing, Southern Paper & Chemical, Corpus Christi Harley Davidson, Modern Pawn & Guns, Volquartson Custom, B&B Enterprises.  I sure hope I didn’t forget anyone but my brain is shutting down and I will review that list manana.  Thank you as well to all the vendors who supported us with their generous donations for the prize table.  Shooters please remember to send a thank you note for whatever you picked up off the table, it is noticed and appreciated by these businesses.

Mark your 2013 calendar for March 9-10.  We hope to see y’all next year when we do this again.  Bigger and better next time.

Thank You,

Roy Richter

Match Results 03-10-2012

Match results are posted.  A few brave souls came out and shot this morning.  Not exactly what anyone would call prime shooting weather, but sometimes you gotta take what you get.
With the time change we will have an extra hour of daylight for Wednesday practice.  We will be setting four stages each week so that the shooters competing at the state match will have the opportunity to see every stage before the match.
If you have not signed up for the state match on March 25, please do it.  It will be no different than shooting our monthly match except you will have the opportunity to shoot with different people and win something.  We will be giving away 11 guns to division winners plus plaques.  There is a side match with two guns being given away.  Plus a prize table that every competitor has an even chance at scoring some cool swag off of.  For lunch there we will be serving barbecue.  Entry forms are available at the clubhouse, fill one in and pay your entry fee there.
Hope to see everyone on the range.
